Thus, the comparison implies changes between the Build and the Update version of the track, and the differences described below belong to the former if not stated otherwise. It is worth mentioning that most of the following tracks had not made it into the Story Mode but all of these later reappeared as part of various GTA Online updates.

But thanks to the now-lost beta build's contents, we can tell the differences between the Beta and the Final versions of some tracks. Throughout development, some or even all of the score tracks have went through some remixing/rearranging to later appear in the best possible state in the final version. It can also be heard in GTA Online's pre-release Gameplay Video. It's never heard within the Story Mode but it would sometimes play during the Executive Search event of GTA Online. The Universal is another track composed for the game by Tangerine Dream. The idea would later be dropped in favor of working with artists like Oh No and The Alchemist, although Michael's pause screen music would later make it to the final product used for all three characters. Ian Hicks (who composed the score for Max Payne 3 which was a game being developed alongside Grand Theft Auto V) confirmed that three different characters had separate musical themes for them that would also be for loading screen and pause menu music. Michael's mission complete tune is ripped from The Silver Seal by Tangerine Dream and Franklin's tune is from West Coast Rocks by The Glitch Mob. There is a chance they are placeholders but the concept for mission complete tunes was scrapped before they were fully realized. Judging from the audio entries, the "small" themes were intended to be used for the Strangers and Freaks missions, while the "big" themes were used at the end of story missions. There are multiple "Mission Complete" tunes that go unused, which come in three different variants for each character with both "big" and "small" tunes, sounding awfully different from the current score in the game.
